Alright everyone! Mark your calendars! Our first Car Wash Fundraiser date has been set. It’s Saturday, August 16th. Call time is 7:30 am. Band students: bring old towels and maybe a new one for yourself…just in case you get wet. Parents, family and fans: Bring your dirty cars, vans, trucks, even boats! Pass the word and make sure to keep your vehicles dirty until then! See you all there!

As anyone who saw our jazz band this past year can attest, this ensemble is on its way up in a big way. This class will meet during zero period and is open to saxophone, trumpet and trombone players. Additionally, there are a limited number of rhythm section spots available for piano, guitar, bass and drums. If you are interested in joining this ensemble, please email Mr. Smith as soon as possible. Spots are limited.

Why Marching Band? For those of you coming into the school that haven’t experienced marching band yet, you are going to have a great time. This is one of the most rewarding activities in which you can participate. This last year we had a very successful year of marching band competition. We took first place in our division in four out of five competitions, including being named Division 1 California State Band Champions.

This year’s show is entitled Polovetsian Dances and features the music of Alexander Borodin. Quite exciting for us is that we are having our music written specifically for us this year. Brad Pearson is the name of the Arranger who is writing our show.

We will have a change in the marching band class this year. Students will still get credit, but the class will no longer be zero period (Yay! Sleeping in for some of us!). Instead, we will meet twice a week in the evenings. We will keep the Thursday rehearsal from 6-8 as we did in the past. We will be adding one rehearsal from 5-8 on either Monday or Tuesday. We will need to work around the football schedule to determine which day.

Marching Band season begins with band camp on July 28 and could end as late as December 6 if we qualify for the SCSBOA Championships. For vets that need to take the SAT’s in the fall. Please do so on October 4th. That test date has been kept clear for you to take the SAT then.  We will probably have performances on the other fall test days.

However, for the first day (28th) only the Section Leaders and the Rookies are to attend. The scheduled time is 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. As Mr. Smith always says, “Early is on time, On time is late, and late is unacceptable!”; so please be EARLY!!! Tyler Smith, our Band Director, has emailed the Summer Newsletter and the Calendar to you previously. Make sure you have read every bit of it because it’s full of good information about our program.

This website is open to your comments and suggestions, however, negative comments (negativity is contagious!) and derogatory comments will be removed by the webmaster. Our goal for this website is to remain as informative as possible and to offer resources that may make the TTR Bands more successful this year and upcoming years!
